The youth hostel was surprisingly large. A room the size of gym lined with rows of bunk beds, there were couches and tables for common areas. There was a large kitchen attached and numerous bathrooms, as well as two large communal showers. Angel had just checked in for the night, and was wandering the rows of beds, looking for an empty one, or one with someone who looked interesting. She was in luck. Five beds ahead of her sat a young man: he had shaggy black hair and pale skin, he sat reading a book, seemingly uninterested in any of the youth around him. That wasn't what made him interesting to Angel though; the teenager had a Spiritomb next to him, watching people pass by. Angel specialized in dark and ghost type pokemon, and loved both. Spiritomb just happened to be both, making it ideal to her. Readjusting her black satchel, she straightened her shoulders and walked up to the young man. "I know I don't know you, but I have to say your Spiritomb is absolutely magnificent. I was just wondering, where and how did you catch it?" Angel paused, smiling down at the young man. He didn't look up at her, didn't even acknowledge that she had spoken. His Spiritomb however was watching her intently with it's single, spiral eye. Angel fidgeted slightly, blowing her bangs off her forehead. "Oh! I didn't even introduce myself, how rude of me. I'm Angel Lynne Darkheart; who might you be?"Angel waited in silence, still the man did not look up at her; his head remained down. Several minutes passed by, thankfully not silent due to the din of surrounding voices. Finally Angel frowned and put a hand on her hip. "So....do you ignore everybody...or am I just special?" she asked, her tone slightly annoyed.

Another day, another dingy bunk house. Always the same crowd of trainers mingling, talking and fantasizing over the rare pokemon they sometimes glimpsed. It wasn't my style but i was easy and available on the road. I had my books though, just recently learned brail, since friends and acquaintances kept buying me brail books. Spiritomb had his own ways to entertain, he would study everyone there and try to focus on the trainers that might be headed in my direction. That is when his eyes fell on a tiny little frame, and as she locked her eyes on me (or so i thought, it was at a slight angle to the pokemon's vision) I awaited the usual incoming hail of questions. As she approached though it became painfully evident that she wasn't a lesser trainer fit with the normal delusions of grandeur. Hard to focus now, can't read well and study her. I think to myself, about the same time her feet stop at the end of the bunk I occupied. I tried ignoring you, but her determination quite impressive. She was fascinated with Spiritomb as well. He can usually scare off the little trainers, not that any of them know what he is. Go I say to him. The order was not spoken, but thought; communed over our telepathic link. To such orders he knows my meaning. Spiritomb fades out, the same way he does during a faint attack. He reappeared within a foot of the young girl's face, and nothing. She wasn't fazed, startled, or even spooked at all. "Kazzashearaz, you may call me Kazz." I reluctantly speak. "I apologize for ignoring you, I try to avoid the lesser banter in these places. Too many dreamers; for instance the young boy dancing and praising his Rattata. Fine a pokemon as it is, it is far to common pace to flaunt." I lift my head up to her, Might as well get the 'why don't you look at me's' over with I think to myself.... Spiritomb chuckles

Angel watched, unfazed, as the Spiritomb faded from view and then reappeared right before her face. She raised an eyebrow at it, unimpressed. "Boo" she commented, sticking her tongue out at the poke'mon. She listened as Kazzez spoke and then nodded and grinned "So you aren't a people person either, huh? That's fine with me." she opened her mouth to speak again, but lost her voice when Kazzez looked up at her. He was handsome, she had recognized that much from the start. What she hadn't been expecting were his eyes: they were completely white, his irises and pupils weren't visible. She tilted her head to the side, curious now. She wanted to immediately ask what had happened, but she bit her tongue. "I've never been all that fond of people. When my brother and I were younger, everyone at school ostracized us because of how we looked" She paused, running a hand through her snow white hair. She wondered if Kazzez was blind; she didn't understand how he could see through the milky film covering his eyes. However he had pointed out the dancing boy and his rattata, so unless he had the world's greatest sense of hearing, he could see somehow. "It didn't get any better as I grew up, people still misjudge me because of how I look, and I hate them for it" she stared down at Kazzez, a slight smirk on her lips "How old to you think I am?" she asked "Go ahead, take a good guess"

I look away, I can't see anything but after the hesitation in her eyes I think it is for the best. Spiritomb's sight was still flickering around her, she is small and the heels are barely any help to that. Why would her age be an matter I think to myself, unless she is far from what she appeares. "you look 11, fresh out of puberty, but I suspect this is not the case?" I let my answer linger on the air, turning my fingers back to my book. Spiritomb's interest in this girl seemed to fade as a ruckus began outside. Thunder struck, an instant later the pounding of rain began thundering through the empty space in the metal building. great I can't see for myself, and now i can't even think or hear. All the Trainers began crowding around a television, the news man explained the severe weather storm. One trainer shouted out, " A pokemon did this", His excamation quickly flooded out by sighs of surprise and amazment. "no shit, Do you know of anything else with enough raw power to create a storm without the doplar catching it?' I jested aloud, just enough for stiritomb and the little girl to hear. Drawing a chuckle from tomb and myself, turning back to the girl i repeat my answer simply "11"

Angel smirked at his sarcastic remark "A lightening storm this severe was probably caused by Raikou...or Thundurus" she commented, glancing across the large expanse to a dark window, the view outside made mottled by the pounding rain against the glass. Turning her attention back to Kazzez she frowned slightly "I'm fifteen, you asshat. I'm probably only a few years younger than you." She sighed and shook her head, blowing her bangs off her forehead "But I guess I can't really blame you for thinking I was younger...everybody does. Nobody expects anything impressive from me, nobody is intimidated by me. I'm entirely unimpressive to the naked eye." She smirked down at Kazzez "But that's okay, because I can do something other people can't....admittedly it wouldn't work on you, but you're a special case." He glanced up at her, and while he didn't look entirely interested in what she was saying (though she had a feeling he never would) she continued. "I can hypnotize people. All it takes is locking eyes with someone for a minute or two, and they belong to me." Kazzez's eyebrow raised slightly, though he didn't seem impressed. "No one views me as a threat, no one expects me to have any kind of power, and that makes everyone susceptible to my ability." Angel grinned broadly, she didn't usually tell people about her gift or her plans, but she liked this man. "I'm not like most trainers...I don't want to be a champion, or a top class coordinator. Those things don't interest me in the slightest. I have much bigger goals.....I'm planning on taking over the world some day."

I look at the ceiling, remembering how hard it was when my sight was taken. Everyone having to wait on me, and take care of me. Now that i can fully control the link with Spiritomb there are no problems. I see Angel again and picture her as the mistress of the world. She is going to need a booster seat for her throne. hahaha. She would certainly have those subjects that think little of her. Ok Spiritomb, that's enough of those thoughts. "We all have our obstacles, you have found a way around yours, just like i have." She will go far, but just how far I think to myself. Spiritomb, now bored of this place begins to spin the circle of fires around and dodging them all together. It gets rather dizzying if you stare at it long enough, not that i can of course. Just as things seem impossibly dull all the lights flicker once and die.

Angel smiled slightly, she wanted to ask Kazzez about his "obstacle" but before she could voice her question the lights went out. Her ears were immediately deafened by the din of trainers protesting and crying out in the dark. Some sounded like they were panicking, others were demanding an explanation. She sighed and rummaged blindly through her satchel before pulling out a flashlight. She didn't fail to notice, however, that Spiritomb was glowing slightly in the dark; his flames shining bright green against the dimmer purple of his ectoplasmic body. Angel clicked her flashlight on and shone it on Spiritomb's face briefly, before moving it to Kazz's. "Well this is just lovely" she commented. Kazz's bags were resting on the floor, and the bottom bunk next to him was bare. Removing her satchel and setting it on the end of the bed Angel sat down next to him. Once she was situated she clicked the flashlight off. She had never minded the dark, not as a child, and not now. "So...if you don't mind me asking, what exactly happened to your eyes?"

I watch Angel rummage through her bags. A flashlight, look at her the little girlscout. As expected she takes the rack beside mine, no less dingy having in the past burdened the weight of dozens of trainers. Since the onset of this conversation it was inevitable she would sit there. She is an acceptable companion though, smart and head strong. Maybe to headstrong. "The mountain near my village erupted, the volcanic ash and lava and rubble spewed forth and enveloped everything. In that single tragedy lasting no more then 4-5 hours most of the villagers died, including my parents. My eyesight was taken by the ember hot ashes filling the air, much of my throat was burnt but that healed. That's where I met spiritomb and he has been my sole companion since then" I explain as much in a "short version" as I could. Visions raced back to me, I recalled the sounds of the mountain breaking. Even this thunder doesn't compare in volume and sheer shock. Extending my thoughts I tell spiritomb to perch on my shoulder watching everyone finally settle down only the trainer with the fire Pokemon doing anything requiring light. I close my eyes and heave back into my bags letting my body relax, eight long years since the volcano.

For a moment angel sat silent. She had expected Kazzez to have experienced some kind of tragic accident, but she wasn't expecting it to have killed his parents. She glanced over at him as he leaned back on his bags. "I....I'm sorry" she said finally. For a few minutes she didn't say anything, thankfully the murmurs of other trainers eased the silence between them. Leaning forward she ran a hand through her hair before finally speaking. "I....I was seven...when my dad murdered my mom...and shot my brother and myself...before finally blowing his brains out." She sighed softly. She didn't usually tell people about her past; it was something she had tried to erase. That was the reason she didn't contact anyone from her hometown, and why she had legally changed her name. "I woke up in the hospital three days later. The doctor's said the bullet richocheted off my breast bone and narrowly missed my heart. I barely survived as it was. Both my parents were dead and my brother was missing...has been missing since then." She wasn't looking at Kazz, she just stared at her feet. "That's why I've been travelling through the region: I'm hoping I'll find him. I know it's a long shot; he could be anywhere...he might not even be alive. But I've got to try and find him. He was the only member of my family that actually cared about me...and who I actually cared about." Angel glanced up at him out of the corner of her eye, wary of his reaction.

I listen as Angel lays her past down in more than just words. I feel bad for her sure, but emotions have never been my finest fixture. I have little sympathy, no empathy, but i can care for someone who feels pain. "Have you any clues to where he is?" I ask. Looking outside I remark on how quickly the unnatural storm is passing. The sun leaking again through the windows on the west side of the structure renews the activity which had all but gone extinct. I lay my head back and think on how I felt so long ago, only to be interupted by visions. Spiritomb looking his gaze on three trainers approaching. Observing the group I focus myself again, I don't get trouble often. Mostly I just scare off the younger trainers, or exude enough of a strong, confident aura to dissuade the weak groupies from giving me trouble. However there have been and appearantly still are an abundance of 'strength in numbers' type of people. If he had twenty this would..... My trail of thought cuts off as i notice he isn't looking at me but the girl ....great a creep. Well this is her matter. I instruct spiritomb to keep an eye on them as I lay fully back. 'I'll just be here all quiet like, if need be I'll intervene.' I don't think she will need me, not if she has survived this long. As they round the end of cots that brings them to our row the goon in front ( bandanna, skulled T-shirt( but it's orange... so lame) and cut-off jean shorts) drops his Kangaskhan.... as Spiritomb's grin magnifies I chuckle very deeply to myself.

Angel shook her head with a slight sigh "He disappeared the night we were shot...I don't have any idea where he might be, or if he's even still alive." She glanced out the window as the sun peaked through the clouds. She noticed the three trainers approaching from the corner of her eye, unimpressed by their "strength in numbers" shtick. Sitting up she raised her head and returned the leader's gaze, an eyebrow raised. "Can I help you?" she asked, her tone annoyed. She glanced at his Kangaskhan; it looked powerful, but it was a normal type poke'mon...which meant it couldn't lay a finger on her ghost-types. The leader leered down at her, a perverse and mildly predatory grin on his face. "The name's James. This is Matt and Thomas. I'm looking for a battle, and you're my lucky victim." Angel sighed and stood up, a hand on her hip. "Seriously? Out of all these trainers...you pick the one that looks like a ten year old. Yeah, you're just oozing confidence and bravado there, Ace." She looked over at Kazzez, laying back on his bags. "Hey Kazzy-kins, want to see James get his hopes and dreams crushed?" she asked with a smile. Noticing the smirk on his face she grinned and turned back to James. "I'm in. Let's take this out back." Leaving her bag on the cot she walked past the three boys, across the room, and out the door. They would follow, she knew they would follow. She didn't stop walking until she reached the large battle grounds behind the hostel. Taking up her position on the far end she waited for the boys. James and his groupies walked to the other side of the field, his Kangaskhan lumbered out onto the field. She smirked as Kazzez and Spiritomb walked out to stand beside her. "Hope you enjoy the show" she said, grinning. Turning to face James and his goons she picked a poke'ball off her belt. "Let's make this quick, Clyde." In a flash of red light a duskull appeared, giggling maniacally. She smiled at James. "I'm in a good mood, sweetheart. Your move."

For just having a storm roll through the town is relatively calm. I follow suit behind the others, playing the part of a blindman. I'm even using a stick, which had been hidden on the floor earlier. Spiritomb looks around as we make our way about, I notice the looks i get. The look that tells me they have already judged and sentenced my skill levels as a trainer. That same look confirms in an instant that they don't have what it take to beat me. "James" here had that look, but Angle didn't. I let my mind drift for a moment and A moment to long. 'WHAT THE HELL..............' I look up(figurativley) to find Spiritomb has made his way ahead of me.... and slowly looking up as his pressed on, his path headed right between a girls legs. 'Get back here you sick twisted... god you're a horrible prankster.' Banging my head against the door a few times before leaving... the lives we lead ehh. Tomb and I make our way outside and post up on the bench. 'today's match will be to a pin fall' Spiritomb jokes trying to pass the time, obviously he isn't impressed either. James had his Kangaskhan out, a beautiful hulking monster... a normal type pokemon...... just desert for the Duskull. but I don't think James even knows what he is facing. I study his face, he is grinning not with confidence I would have to say it's sheer ignorance. " Kangaskhan use mega punch" And like that, with a massive roar the pokemon rips off, something less than tangible coalescing around it's right fist. Kangaskhan throws his fist forward as he reaches his target and hits the floating Duskull right where the face is. The Ghost pokemon waivers and reappears completely unharmed next to the other pokemon's fist. " what th... Kangaskhan use thrash" With this I get the wonderful spectacle of this massive pokemon fully swinging to it's right. I watch as the Kangaskhan drops it's headand his tail comes way up, then gets slammed down straight through theDuskull leaving quite the tail shaped crater. To which Spiritomb Fadesout and back in right infront of James and laughes. ( though he makes no audible sounds you can fully understand he is laughing by looking at his face).

Angel giggled softly as the Kangaskhan struck at Clyde again and again, each time his ectoplasmic body reformed and he giggled maniacally "Don't you know that normal type moves don't work on ghost type poke'mon?" she asked with a smirk. "Let's make this quick. Clyde, use telekinesis!" The duskull giggled, a dark pink aura forming around his body, and around the Kangaskhan. Suddenly James's pokemon was lifted 20 feet up into the air, and brutally slammed back down to the ground. This process repeated several times as Clyde watched, a hint of delight in his pink eyes. Finally the auras around both pokemon faded. The Kangaskhan slowly rose to his feet, though it was obvious he'd taken significant damage. Angel grinned; while some might call her cruel when it came to pokemon battles, she just liked to win...and she knew how to. She called out her final order with confidence "Clyde let's end this, use dark pulse!" A ball of black energy formed within the middle of Clyde's body, expanding until it encased his entire form, and then exploding outward, sending a pulsation of black energy shooting straight at the Kanghaskan. The pulse struck dead on, knocking the hulking pokemon up into the air and back. He was also knocked unconscious in the process. Angel smirked as she recalled her pokemon. Turning to Kazzez she grinned "And that's how it's done." Leaving Kazzez's side she walked over to James to claim her victory money. He handed the cash over, looking incredibly shamefaced as he did. "Next time pick your opponent a little more carefully" she advised him, taking her spoils. Walking back over to Kazzez she brandished the money. "Wanna go get something to eat?" she asked with a smile "James is buying"

I lay back, hardly paying attention to the images Spiritomb is feeding me. The sun must be bright, I can feel it's warmth now. So long since i've seen the color, I know it's an orange/yellow. I don't know those colors beyond name. I close my eyes and begin to drift, a moment only. "wanna go eat" Stirs me to reality. "Yeah sure" I clammer to stand. Some fresh air feels good, expecially after that dingy smelling cattle barn we were just in.... Seriously people, you would think trainers would shower more often. " you have the money, lead he way." I follow Angel. I really don't care what food we eat when it's free. Spiritomb fades onto my shoulder, I swear sometimes I feel like a pirate. Crippled with a walking stick and a pokemon perched upon my shoulder. ... I would need a hat though. I suspect this would be a good time to feed the rest of my cohorts as well. I do take a singular pride in showing off, When you've given as much as I have you get that feeling. NNNOOOOO, honestly for most of you that is ego. As we round the corner of the first building that starts the actual town we come upon a noise eminating from the alleyway. Grunting and a pokemon crying. Upon inspection a boy is kicking his Evee. NOW I don't know if you've ever seen someone hurt a domestic animal, commonly reffered to as a pet. Well this sort of action flies alot less here, than the comparison does in your world. And I couldn't call names faster, before the kid had registered he wasn't alone my Umbreon Crouched over the wounded Evee, Spiritomb floated in his face, and he really didn't want to see the goliath of a monster behind him. Again this really isn't condoned but I'm sure Angel won't mind, I call out to Spiritomb, " dark void". The kid crashes to the ground, my scorupi has already extracted the Evee, I dismiss the others besides Spiritomb. " Angel, pit stop." I call out, to the pokecenter we go.
